Chicago Sun Times article
This article was very interesting. In it the author is drawing a few parallels between the Bush Administration of the present and Hitler in Germany of the 1930’s. I disagree with some areas this short article and agree with others.
I disagree with the way the author draws a parallel between the pre-Hitler general public belief and the pre-Bush general public attitude. The people of Germany in the 1930’s were bitter. They were humiliated from the Versailles and angry at their incompetent government. Hitler gave them something to turn to for hope of a better government in Germany. Before Bush came, the general American attitude was a good one. Even though some of President Clinton’s personal life issues were in the press at the time, he was still a very popular president. America did not think of it’s goverment as incompetent or lacking in any way. I believe that we are now in a situation where we need to be very careful about who we let come into power. America is not the once looked-up-to country that it was in the late 90’s.
I don’t like to talk about politics too much but with the elections coming up I find myself reading more and more about these types of issues. I will stop here. Read the article and form your own opinion.
