Why must I always need one table?

It seems like I always need one table. I’m working on a redesign of The Umpqua Valley Arts Association website and I can’t seem to get the layout to work with no tables. I have to use one. It seems like I always have to use one table. I can’t shake them! I tried getting help on Blue Robot and over at Zeldman’s lair, but no luck. I would go over to Meyerweb and try to figure something out but now I’m frustrated. This always seems to happen. And every time it happens I lose precious design hours to a development nightmare.
When I’m at work, I always opt for the fastest way out of a problem. That way I can maximize my productivity and get the most work done. This works for me at work. On my personal time however I seem to always strive for perfection. Is this detrimental to my skill set? I don’t know. I wonder if I’m holding myself back or if I’m doing the right thing and one of these days the CSS driven layouts will just snap into place and I’ll be in front-end development heaven. Who knows. All I know right now is that I’m frustrated and I need some down time.
Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, Vicky will be selling her wares at the 38th annual Umpqua Valley Arts Festival. It’s a three day event that draws normally around 15,000 people from in and around Douglas County. As the rumors go last year The Arts Center tripped up a bit and let some not so great artists into the festival and lots of potential customers went home disappointed. Because of last years poor turn out on the artist’s end of things, The Arts Center screened all artists and voted on photographs of artwork provided by the artists. Vicky was cleared for a booth because she is after all an excellent artist. They are telling us that the problem this year is general artist turnout. They normally set up space for 150 booths. The last I heard they were still 40 booths away from filling up, and that was only two weeks ago. Vicky has put out $50 to rent a canopy topper for her booth and we’ve borrowed two conference tables from my dad in order to display all of her merchandise. So we’re hoping to have a good weekend.
Not much else going on right now. I’m just looking forward to a weekend of being with Vicky.
