Joyce Akse, The Arts Center, future Blog for ciMediaGroup?

I’ve been issued lots of updates on the Joyce Akse website the last couple of weeks and I suspect that things won’t calm down until the general elections are over on November 2nd. I do feel very lucky to be working for a team that shares the same political views as I do in my personal life however, so I guess things could be worse. It keeps me at work and for that I’m very happy.

I worked on The Arts Centers website this weekend for a couple of hours. I finished updating a plugin that grabs the information from a form and sends it to Peggy so that she can then contact the lady that runs the Art Express service. I had this finished last week but the formatting of the email was pretty bad. I had to go in and use an implode() function to fix the formatting of an array of items that one might be interested in for that form. I feel like I’m getting a stronger grasp of some of the novice functions in PHP now and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to keep this momentum up in the coming months as I learn more about the language and it’s structure.

Speaking of keeping things up, I’ve been talking to folks at work about starting up a weblog on our site to keep our Search Engine Optimization going and use it as a way to give back to our web community. I proposed this as part of an idea that Chris came up with a couple of weeks ago to redesign our site and start offering online tutorials. The tutorials idea was recieved well once we explained that we would not be giving away any secrets of our trade. We would be more or less putting articles on our website contributed by our team that would have pertinent information about our design experiences and general information about our various arts and scientific approaches to problems we face every day. I added at the end of our discussion that I wanted to include a daily weblog to help keep the search engines coming back on a more frequent basis. My idea was well recieved and plan to implement a WordPress publishing system into our website as soon as we get an initial design going and start adding content.
