Work work
So I recieved word yesterday from my marketing cohort that we are go for a new web site. This is the second freelance project I have done with my marketing friend. The first one worked very well and I’m looking forward to working with her on this one. This web site will be an informational web site for an up and coming wellness symposium for a company called Age Dynamics located in one of the Dakotas. If all goes well with this smaller project I think that we may be able to talk them into redesigning their entire corporate web site. Let me tell you a little bit about working with a good marketing representative.
DO IT! If you are lucky enough to come across someone like Carolina (my marketing representative) then you should take the plunge with them. I mean wow! It’s great to be able to not only separate myself from the client but to also depend on her putting her foot down with a client and telling them no. I love that she is strong and has the ability and know how to make connections, get money out of people, and work with me to let me know what the customer wants.
I will soon begin working on a web site to house my freelance projects and a company storefront so that Carolina has a business name and a place online to point people to when they have more questions. There are two other web projects that I need to wrap up this weekend as well.
I’m finishing a site up for a local band called MR DJT. Geno, a friend and graphic designer, designed this web site. And he did a good job at it too! Geno however is not a web developer and so he had Dreamweaver or some other program build the sites code for him. So, since I’m an anal person who must have things my way I promptly jumped into recoding the web site. Which has worked. So far. Well…mostly. I’m having some serious browser issues when it comes to the drop down menu so things over there are still very much under construction. And, being the semi-lazy person that I am I forgot to put the site in a secure, hidden directory and so now it’s out there for the world to see. Broken. That’s not good. So, I’m working on that one first.
Then I’ll move onto The Arts Center’s annual Palate to Palette dinner/auction benefiting who else? You guessed it. The Arts Center. The Arts Center has an auction for very wealthy people once a year. Last year was the first year they had sort of an online auction pre-season period. Anyway, it wasn’t a huge success but two people bid and since the page was only up a couple of weeks before the auction night that was pretty darn good if you ask me. Which I’m sure you are right about now. Right? Ok, ok I’ll move on.
Vicky colored her hair for the first time in a couple of years. It was a color called Red Corvette. She says it turned out light red. She says. I say it’s more like a cotton candy pink. But I also got a D+ in color theory so what do I know.
She loves it. I love it. People stare. We love it.
On an interesting side note we went to Ross this evening to buy some work out clothing since we have little to none to speak of and her red hair got her hit on by a guy in the store. Total loser according to her. I thank the lord for that.
