P-town

The first time I heard the shortened p-town lingo was when I lived in Eugene what seems now like ten years ago. P-town means Portland. Portland, Oregon is the place with the space for all beings from outer space. I love visiting Portland. I don’t know much about the city or yet about the state that we’ve lived in for two years now, but I know I love Portland.

We went up on a day trip yesterday for a couple of meetings with my freelance buddies. I had too much coffee, not enough money, and all in all enjoyed the day with my wife and one of my good friends from work. We had an excellent BBQ brisket sandwich from Rosie’s on north west 23rd.

I saw some of the most amazing things, people, and events while I was walking the streets. I saw 3 different flower shops and 5 different coffee shops all within three blocks of each other. I also saw 4 or 5 police officers surround a man that was passed out in the middle of the sidewalk. They had plastic gloves on and they were smiling and helping the man to wake up and put him into some type of paddy wagon. I also saw Mexican, Korean, American style deli, Japanese, and Chinese restaurants all within the same block.

I stopped at a couple of different flower shops and ended up picking up a couple of flowers for my honey bear. She appreciated my gesture. Anyway, it was a very long drive but a very good day.

Here’s a few flowers Vicky first spotted when we got out of the car. It was like they were there by the car to greet us and welcome us to Portland.

Umm….this is Cow-Horse. A life size papier-mache horse that was painted as if it were a dairy cow. I would make a funny remark here about it being truly a horse of a different color but I’m not feeling really clever this evening. Probably due to it being a Monday in the middle of rainy April with no holidays in sight.

Looking in a window with fake people wearing relly weird clothing you begin to realize that there is a life outside of Roseburg.
